The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Plays Hits Of Pink Floyd (1994)

Year: 1996 (CD 1994)
Label: Edel Company (Germany), 0028382EDL
Style: Modern Classical, Instrumental, Classical Pop
Country: London, England, UK
Time: 51:09
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 318 Mb

I would not have been a massive fan of Floyd although I have some of their albums. However the real strength is that the Royal Phil have captured much of the essence of the original pieces - many of which are excellent stand alone songs on their own. When you put them together into over 50 minutes of music it becomes a rich musical experience which can be enjoyed time and time again. I do not know what Floyd think of the CD but I would argue that it is an incredible tribute to their achievements. It has encouraged me to seek out more CD's by the Royal Phil on other artists. Well done to Pink Floyd to giving us such great music. Well done to the Royal Phil for giving us such a great recording of magnificent music.

I originally bought this album on a somewhat dull supermarket trip. That was 3 weeks ago and it has hardly been turned off since! In my eyes and ears it takes something special to divert my attention away from the original recordings of Floyd, but this cd is a wonderful and beautiful rendition of the bands greatest songs. For both fans and lovers of classical music this album deserves to be listened to. A definite 5 stars!

Chicken Shack - O.K. Ken [Japanese Ed.] (1969)

Year: February 1969 (CD Nov 21, 1994)
Label: Epic Records (Japan), ESCA 7566
Style: Rock, Blues Rock
Country: UK
Time: 42:19
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 263 Mb

Their second LP, O.K. Ken? was released in February 1969 and also garnered chart success just like the prior album 40 Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed and Ready to Serve. While it did surpass the first album by reaching No. 9 on the British charts, unlike the initial LP, it quickly dropped out of the charts due to the lack of an album single to support it. The band then decided to release a song from the first album, "When The Train Comes Back” (BH 57-3146), after overdubbing a horn section over the original track. The flipside of the single was “Hey Baby”, an outtake of the O.K. Ken? album sessions. Christine Perfect composed and provided piano and lead vocals on both single tracks but the single release was only mildly successful.
Stan Webb wrote four of the songs on the album and co-wrote two others with Christine Perfect. Webb sang all of his compositions and Perfect sang on the Perfect/Webb collaboration, "Get Like You Use to Be". Webb and Perfect sang a duet on the other Perfect/Webb collaboration, "A Woman Is The Blues". Additionally, Perfect sang on covers, "I Wanna See My Baby" and "Mean Old World". The "Pony Trap" and "Remington Ride" are both instrumentals.
Following her departure, Christine Perfect joined Fleetwood Mac in July 1970, and "Get Like You Used to Be" became a staple of Fleetwood Mac's live act from 1970 to 1975. Guitarists Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer, Peter Green, Bob Welch, Bob Weston, & Lindsey Buckingham all featured on different performances of the song throughout the band's ever-changing lineups.

Chicken Shack - 100 Ton Chicken [Japanese Ed.] (1969)

Year: October 1969 (CD Nov 21, 1994)
Label: Epic Records (Japan), ESCA 7567
Style: Rock, Blues Rock
Country: UK
Time: 35:39
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 210 Mb

Lethargic blues, sounding like an opening act recorded at the blues bar down the street. This record literally screams for a competent singer, as Stan Webb's lazy, mumbling vocals are almost laughable (did he intend it that way?). Sorry, but this chicken laid a 20-ton rotten egg.
(allmusic.com/album/100-ton-chicken-mw0000343023) Review by Peter Kurtz
100 Ton Chicken is the third album by the UK Brit Blues band Chicken Shack. Originally released in 1969, the follow-up album of their first two albums 40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve [MOVLP104] and OK Ken? [MOVLP1039] was Paul Raymond's first album as a member of Chicken Shack. Raymond replaced Christine Perfect, who left the band when she married John McVie of Fleetwood Mac.
Terence Ibbott was in charge of the album artwork for 100 Ton Chicken, which was bizarre as always. The recordings sounded quite different and gave The Shack what they were looking for - a "heavier" sound. On the album Chicken Shack covered Clarence Carter tunes ("The Road Of Love" and "Weekend Love"), a great Freddie King tune "Look Ma, I'm Cryin'", Lowell Fulson's "Reconsider Baby" and Clarence Gatemouth Brown's "Midnight Hour".

Chicken Shack - Forty Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve [Japanese Ed.] (1968)

Year: June 1968 (CD Nov 21, 1994)
Label: Epic Records (Japan), ESCA 7565
Style: Rock, Blues Rock
Country: UK
Time: 39:48
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 259 Mb

Chicken Shack's first single “It's Okay With Me Baby / When My Left Eye Jumps” (BH 57-3135), was released in 1968 shortly before their first LP release 40 Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed and Ready to Serve was released later that year. Christine Perfect composed and sang the song on side A of the first single and Stan Webb composed and sang the song on the flip side. Neither side of the first single was included on the first LP release. The first non-album single and the debut LP attracted a lot of attention. 40 Blue Fingers... ended up having considerable chart success (No. 12 on the British Album Charts). Stan Webb and Christine Perfect both wrote two songs for the album and the rest of the songs were blues covers. Webb sang lead vocals on all of his compositions as well as all of the covers. Perfect sang lead only on her compositions.
Chicken Shack are a British blues and rock band, founded in the mid-1960s by Stan Webb (guitar and vocals), Andy Silvester (bass guitar), and Alan Morley (drums), who were later joined by Christine Perfect (later McVie) (vocals and keyboards) in 1967. Chicken Shack has performed with various line-ups, Stan Webb being the only constant member.

Joe Soap - Keep It Clean (1973)

Year: 1973 (CD 2009)
Label: Big Pink Music (South Korea), BiG PINK 46
Style: Rock, Rhythm and Blues
Country: UK
Time: 38:00
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 271 Mb

Having released their debut album in 1972 (PT 8071CD), with backing from Stone The Crows and others, in 1973 John Tennent and David Morrison went in another direction, embracing gritty blues-rock. Keep It Clean sank without trace upon its first release at the end of that year, but has since gained a strong cult reputation, not least because of the superb contributions from Jimmy McCulloch (by then of Wings), Mik Kaminski (of ELO), and others.
(forcedexposure.com/Labels/PROG.TEMPLE.UK.html)
Joe Soap were a band comprising of John Tennent and David Morrison. They had previously released one album prior to using this name, "Tennent / Morrison" (Polydor 1972).
Their second album, (and only one as Joe Soap) "Keep It Clean" (Polydor 1973) enhanced this core lineup with contributions from Jerry Conway (Jethro Tull), Jimmy McCulloch (Stone The Crows), Mike Kaminski (ELO) and Jeff Pearce. Itwas produced by Sandy Robertson.

Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry) - Hollywood Vampires [Japanese Ed. SHM-CD] (2015)

Year: September 11, 2015 (CD Sep 11, 2015)
Label: Universal Music (Japan), UICY-15428
Style: Hard Rock
Country: U.S. / UK
Time: 51:13
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 380 Mb

Hollywood Vampires is the self-titled debut studio album by American rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires, formed in 2015 by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry to honor the music of the rock stars who died from excess in the 1970s. Released on September 11, 2015 for Republic Records, the album features guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Robby Krieger, Orianthi, Dave Grohl, Christopher Lee, Slash, Brian Johnson, Joe Walsh, Perry Farrell, and Zak Starkey amongst others.
At his shows, Alice Cooper often performs cover songs as a tribute to his drinking buddies The Hollywood Vampires. For an album of covers based on the latter, Cooper wanted songs specific to their early 70s era. "Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix of course were before the Vampires," he conceded. "But they were, like, early, early-breed Vampires. They would have been there every single night."
The songs duly hail from acts who fit the original group's "lore", with the exception of two new tracks by Cooper and Depp titled "My Dead Drunk Friends" and "Raise the Dead". "My Dead Drunk Friends" is named after Cooper's recent favorite turn of phrase. Of that, Cooper says "'My dead drunk friends', they would have laughed at that. It was their sense of humor."
Of McCartney's appearance, Depp recalled: "We're recording live… Alice looks at me with this befuddled little look and he's mouthing the words, 'Oh my god, that's Paul McCartney!' to me… Then I look over at Joe Perry – one of my guitar heroes from when I was a kid – and he looks at me and he says, mouthing it, 'Jesus – look, man, it's Paul McCartney!' It was great to see those two huge stars being starstruck."
The lead track is a spoken word piece titled "The Last Vampire" voiced by Christopher Lee, in which he recites a passage from Bram Stoker's Dracula. This was Lee's final recording for a musical album before his death in June 2015.
