Van Halen - The Best Of Volume 1 [Japanese Ed.] (1996)

Year: October 22, 1996 (CD Dec 8, 2010)
Label: Warner Music (Japan), WPCR-14063
Style: Hard Rock, Arena Rock
Country: Pasadena, California, U.S.
Time: 76:23
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 602 Mb

Best Of – Volume I is the first greatest hits album by American hard rock band Van Halen.
The album does not contain any songs from the band's 1982 album Diver Down. Best Of – Volume I also features "Humans Being", the band's contribution to the Twister soundtrack. The two newly recorded songs, "Can't Get This Stuff No More" and "Me Wise Magic", at the end of the album are with original lead vocalist David Lee Roth. These two songs were released as singles to promote this compilation. They are also the last songs recorded and released by the original Van Halen lineup of Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Roth and Michael Anthony. Some demos recorded by the original lineup in 2000 would later be re-recorded by the Van Halen brothers, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Roth for A Different Kind of Truth, released in 2012. Anthony did not play with Van Halen again following the band's 2004 tour. He was replaced by Eddie's son Wolfgang.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Plays Hits Of Pink Floyd (1994)

Year: 1996 (CD 1994)
Label: Edel Company (Germany), 0028382EDL
Style: Modern Classical, Instrumental, Classical Pop
Country: London, England, UK
Time: 51:09
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 318 Mb

I would not have been a massive fan of Floyd although I have some of their albums. However the real strength is that the Royal Phil have captured much of the essence of the original pieces - many of which are excellent stand alone songs on their own. When you put them together into over 50 minutes of music it becomes a rich musical experience which can be enjoyed time and time again. I do not know what Floyd think of the CD but I would argue that it is an incredible tribute to their achievements. It has encouraged me to seek out more CD's by the Royal Phil on other artists. Well done to Pink Floyd to giving us such great music. Well done to the Royal Phil for giving us such a great recording of magnificent music.

I originally bought this album on a somewhat dull supermarket trip. That was 3 weeks ago and it has hardly been turned off since! In my eyes and ears it takes something special to divert my attention away from the original recordings of Floyd, but this cd is a wonderful and beautiful rendition of the bands greatest songs. For both fans and lovers of classical music this album deserves to be listened to. A definite 5 stars!

Rondinelli (ex Rainbow, Black Sabbath) - War Dance [1985] (1996)

Year: 1985 (CD 1996)
Label: FTP Records, Inc. (US), FTP100
Style: Hard Rock
Country: U.S. (July 27, 1955)
Time: 54:36
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 316 Mb

Robert Rondinelli (born July 27, 1955) is an American rock drummer best known for his work with the hard rock/heavy metal bands Blue Oyster Cult, Rainbow, Quiet Riot, Black Sabbath, The Lizards, The Handful, and Rondinelli. In July 2013, Rondinelli was announced as the new drummer for the Axel Rudi Pell band, replacing previous drummer Mike Terrana.[1] Rondinelli has played on subsequent albums and tours, and remains with the band.
(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Rondinelli)
The band Rondinelli comprises Bobby Rondinelli on drums, Teddy Rondinelli on guitar, Corey Davidson on keyboards, Ray Gillen (later of Black Sabbath and Badlands) on vocals, and James LoMenzo (later of White Lion) on bass. Of course, most of these musicians would go on to other projects that were far more fruitful and popular.
The Rondinelli album, Wardance, is essentially divided into two halves. The first four songs are studio recordings, while the latter four are live cuts, and include some extended jams. It has also been stated on some websites and in some reviews that the studio material on here was a collection of demos never intended for commercial release.

Ginger Baker (ex Cream) - Falling Off The Roof (1996)

Year: 1996 (CD 1996)
Label: Atlantic Records (Germany), 7567-82900-2
Style: Instrumental, Jazz, Jazz Rock
Country: Lewisham, South London, England (19 August 1939 - 6 October 2019)
Time: 57:55
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 370 Mb

It is credited to his trio, which included Charlie Haden on bass and Bill Frisell on guitar. It peaked at No. 13 on Billboard's Top Jazz Albums chart.
The album was produced by Baker and Malcolm Cecil and included original songs from each member of the trio. Baker fell off the roof of his Parker, Colorado, home three days prior to the start of the Seattle recording sessions; he played while dealing with the effects of a concussion and a broken rib. The album was finished in Los Angeles, in a studio next to one that was being used by Guns N' Roses. Baker liked neither the studio nor the musical style of the drummers used by Guns N' Roses. Jerry Hahn played guitar on "Sunday at the Hillcrest". Bela Fleck played banjo on three of the tracks. "Bemsha Swing" is a version of the Thelonious Monk composition. "Vino Vecchio" is a reworking of Cream's "Sweet Wine". "Au Privave" was written by Charlie Parker.

Tracy Nelson - Move On (1996)

Year: 1996 (CD 1996)
Label: Rounder Records (US), CD 3143
Style: Blues
Country: Madison, Wisconsin, U.S. (December 27, 1944)
Time: 45:56
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 288 Mb

The third album in Tracy Nelson's '90s comeback, Move On finds her sharing the microphone with the likes of Delbert McClinton, Phoebe Snow, Bonnie Raitt, and Maria Muldaur (the last three on "Ladies' Man"), singers with whom she shares a taste in bluesy rock with a country tinge. She is in typically fine voice on a set of songs more notable for the tasty playing on them than for their distinctiveness. The best among them is Nelson's own "Playin' It Safe" (one of her four compositions) which has a gospel feel to support the lyric's sage advice. Blues fans who caught up with Nelson on 1993's In the Here and Now or 1995's I Feel So Good may find this album, with its pop, rock, and R&B elements, a bit eclectic for their taste, but fans of Bonnie Raitt who long for her earlier, grittier music may find a new heroine.
