4 Non Blondes - Bigger, Better, Faster, More! (1992)

Year: October 13, 1992 (CD Oct 13, 1992)
Label: Interscope Records (Germany), 7567-92112-2
Style: Alternative Rock
Country: San Francisco, California, U.S.
Time: 41:06
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 299 Mb

Charts: US #13, AUS #4, AUT #1, GER #1, NLD #1, NZ #1, NOR #10, SWE #1, SWI #1, UK #4, Portugal #1б Hungary #1. AUS, SWE, FRA & NLD: Gold; GER: 3x Gold; US, CAN & Spain: Platinum; AUT: 2x Platinum.
The year was 1992; here a band was completing what would become an international success, the first and last work of the 4 Non Blondes. The world was changing at that time; Music was progressively changing. And so, while the great Kurt Cobain was climbing the charts around the world with Smells Like Teen Spirit, a small group of young friends was just debuting in their career, probably unaware of unleashing a quick dart of innovation, a great shake to the international musical scene.
It's an incredible album, almost perfect, that should be listened to in its entirety and immediately, without the external world distracting you from that Masterpiece; it's a shout, this album, and let it shout in peace, you won't regret it. It's also a very varied album, talking about genres: the predominant one is undoubtedly Rock, but you certainly can't say that "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" is just rock; there's also a strong trace of blues, especially in the first two tracks, like dance, in the latter part... It's a very sweet conjunction (we could also say a very tasty medley!) of genres that, for every song, for every melody and for every note, perfectly and masterfully build the body of the work; the solid voice of Linda Perry leads unchallenged to talk about various subjects: sex, drugs, anger, regret, despair... but beware, don't be too influenced by the words: it's a shout, remember! And you have to take it as such.

Extreme - III Sides To Every Story [Japanese Ed. SHM-CD] (1992)

Year: September 14, 1992 (CD Sep 17, 2008)
Label: Universal Music (Japan), UICY-93682
Style: Hard Rock, Glam Metal
Country: Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.
Time: 76:09
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 516 Mb

Nuno and the boys split this album into three parts based on the three sides of every story: “Yours” “Mine,” and “The Truth.” They rather cleverly weave their political views into some songs, while they don’t cram anything down your throat either. Once again, I listened intently to Nuno Bettencourt’s guitar playing. Although, I didn’t hear the fire I witnessed on “Pornograffiti,” I still heard some funky playing.
This release seemed to be more constructed than previous releases; not controlled, but more compartmentalized and that was the band's purpose by dividing the album into three sections. “Yours” (songs 1-6), deal with political views. “Mine” (songs 7-11) has some romantic overtones. “The Truth” (songs 12-14) have some progressive offerings. Clocking in at seventy-six minutes, "III" is a lot of music to digest. I did get a little bored near the end because the mood changes from song to song in a strange way. The music is still good and taking a few minutes to listen closely will help you appreciate their direction.
Gary Cherone really uses all his vocal ability on this disc. You can see why he was chosen to front Van Halen (albeit briefly). I find it odd that Nuno has said he always wanted to be Eddie Van Halen and then Gary got to sing with him. It’s funny how the music biz works.
Since this disc didn’t have any Top 40 hits, you may not have heard most of the songs here so, if you haven’t heard this CD, consider this fresh music from Extreme.
I do like the Martin Luther King Jr. speech in “Peacemaker Die.” It gives the song and the band's lyrics more depth.

Extreme - Pornograffitti [Japanese Ed. SHM-CD] (1990)

Year: August 7, 1990 (CD Sep 17, 2008)
Label: Universal Music (Japan), UICY-93681
Style: Hard Rock, Glam Metal
Country: Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.
Time: 64:28
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 444 Mb

The album begins with “Decadence Dance”, which gives the listener a good sampling of what’s to follow both musically and thematically. Released as a single, the opener was a minor success in the UK, peaking at #36. “Li’l Jack Horny” features intro guitar harmonics for melodic effect by Bettencourt before he changes direction with a strong, bluesy riff. A fine track overall with good melody of lyrics that use nursery rhymes and fables, the song borrowed its title from the six member “Li’l Jack Horn Section”, who performs on this track and “Get the Funk Out”. The latter track is driven by the bass pattern of Badger and features Pat Travers on co-lead vocals.
More Than Words” is a fine finger-picked ballad where Cherone and Bettencourt are free to fully display their talents at the fullest. For how over-produced most of the rest of the album is, the sparse arrangement here is a brilliant break in the action, and worked well to make this a quasi-classic. Lyrically, the song examines the diminished meaning of phrase “I love you”, as actions speak louder. The song became a #1 smash on the Billboard charts in the US. The subsequent single, “Hole Hearted”, another acoustic track, was also successful, rising to No. 4 on the same popular music chart.
Extreme II: Pornograffitti has some weak moments through the middle of the album. “Money (in God We Trust)” starts with a slight dialogue about the tooth fairy before the upbeat core tries to be anthemic and preachy at the same time. Not very original or interesting and, in fact, the hook borrows heavily from AC/DC’s “What Do You Do for Money Honey”. Likewise, “It’s a Monster” 4:28 – really covers no new ground at all and, while the title track “Pornograffitti” begins with some blistering guitar riffs by Bettencourt and eventually settles into a rudiment-fused groove with steady beat, it really amounts to more Van Halen-style cloning.
The second break from form, “When I First Kissed You”, is jazzy piano ballad, completely sans guitar. Here, Badger appears to be using a stand-up, double bass which adds to the song’s feel of authenticity as well along with the fine orchestral strings over the bridge. “Suzi (Wants Her All Day What?)” is another hard rock narrative, while “He-Man Woman Hater” includes an excellent guitar intro that borrows from “Flight of the Bumblebee” with Bettencourt’s guitar accompanied by rapid, percussive tapping by Geary. Dweezil Zappa makes a cameo with the cartoonish voice of the title character. This is followed by “Song for Love”, a slow ballad with a dark feel throughout.

Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) - Main Offender (1992)

Year: 19 October 1992 (CD 1992)
Label: Virgin Records (Europe), VJCP-28130
Style: Rhythm and Blues, Rock
Country: Dartford, Kent, England (18 December 1943)
Time: 53:14
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 375 Mb

Main Offender is the second studio album by Keith Richards, released in 1992 between the Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge projects.
Richards teamed with Talk Is Cheap collaborator Steve Jordan and added Waddy Wachtel to the mix both in composing and producing Main Offender. Sessions with Richards' group of musician friends known as "The X-Pensive Winos" took place in California and New York City from March to September 1992, with touring in Argentina and Europe in late 1992 and North America in early 1993.
Main Offender was released in October 1992 to generally positive reviews. However, it failed to match the commercial success of Talk Is Cheap, reaching No. 45 in the UK and No. 99 in the US. After the Main Offender tour, Richards returned to recording exclusively with the Rolling Stones and did not release another solo album until Crosseyed Heart in 2015.

Gong - Shapeshifter (1992)

Year: 1992 (CD Oct 1992)
Label: Celluloid (France), 66914-2
Style: Canterbury Scene, Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock
Country: Paris, France
Time: 65:42
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 379 Mb

Shapeshifter is the ninth studio album released under the name Gong and the sixth album by the Daevid Allen version of the group. It was released in 1992. It is the first proper album from Daevid Allen's Gong since You from 1974. It is the first album from the original group without founding member Gilli Smyth. Didier Malherbe and Allen are the only two returning performers from the previous album. Pip Pyle, who performed on Continental Circus and Camembert Electrique also returns.
With main character Zero the hero, the album continues the Gong mythology, the central part of which was formed with the Radio Gnome Trilogy of albums, comprising Flying Teapot in 1973, followed by Angel's Egg, 1973, and You in 1974.
In episode four in the album Shapeshifter (1992), Zero meets an urban shaman who agrees to take Zero to the next level of awareness on the proviso that Zero spends nine months on an airplane, travelling where he wants but not using money or eating anything other than airline food. Zero eventually dies in Australia under mysterious circumstances.

Love - Comes In Colours [Compilation] (1992)

Year: 1992 (CD 1992)
Label: Raven Records (Australia), RVCD-29
Style: Psychedelic Rock, Garage Rock
Country: Los Angeles, California, U.S.
Time: 74:53
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 438 Mb

Love is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965. Led by Arthur Lee, the band's primary songwriter, they were one of the first racially diverse American rock bands. Their sound incorporated an eclectic range of styles including garage, folk rock, and psychedelia. While finding only modest success on the music charts, peaking in 1966 with their US No. 33 hit "7 and 7 Is," Love would come to be praised by critics as their third album, Forever Changes (1967), became generally regarded as one of the best albums of the 1960s.
The band's classic lineup is considered to consist of Lee, the guitarist and singer Bryan MacLean, the bassist Ken Forssi, the guitarist Johnny Echols and the drummer Donnie Conca, who was replaced by Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer. By 1968, only Lee remained and he continued recording as Love with varied members through the 1970s. MacLean and Forssi died in 1998. Lee died in 2006. Forever Changes was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2011. In recent years, original member Johnny Echols has toured under the title of the Love Band or Love Revisited.

Lita Ford - The Best Of Lita Ford [1984–1991] (1992)

Year: July 28, 1992 (CD )
Label: Dreamland Records (Germany), 07863 66037 2
Style: Hard Rock, Glam Metal
Country: Long Beach, California, U.S. (September 19, 1958)
Time: 47:48
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 340 Mb

The Best of Lita Ford is a compilation album from Lita Ford. Released on July 28, 1992, it includes the hit singles "Kiss Me Deadly" and the duet with Ozzy Osbourne, "Close My Eyes Forever", as well as several other minor hits from Ford's solo career.
(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_of_Lita_Ford)
Despite the fact that her success was brief, Lita Ford continues to be one of the more memorable icons of the hair metal scene. Most will argue that this is because of her gender rather than her music; the fact that she was female indeed made her a unique novelty in a genre dominated by men. True, Lita Ford's shelf life was short-lived, and her music itself is far less original than, say, her ex-bandmate Joan Jett. Not to say that what's on the Best of Lita Ford disc is bad -- like many of her peers, Ford sure knew how to produce a few catchy guilty pleasures. Her most well-known singles, "Kiss Me Deadly" and "Close My Eyes Forever," are included, along with a handful of unknowns that are certainly worth hearing, such as "Larger Than Life," "What Do You Know About Love," "Gotta Let Go," and a cover of Alice Cooper's "Only Women Bleed." There are numerous Lita Ford compilations out there, but this original best-of collection remains the most ideal buy.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Black Moon (1992)

Year: 18 May 1992 (CD June 27, 1992)
Label: Victory Music (US), 383 480 003-2
Style: Symphonic Rock, Art Rock
Country: London, England
Time: 48:55
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 302 Mb

Charts: CAV #66, GER #45, NED #77, SWI #23, JP #16, US #78.
The band had broken up in 1979, and recorded Black Moon to kick off their 1990s revival. Black Moon received mixed reviews. Jim Allen of AllMusic wrote in a retrospective review that the performers "stripped down their sound and amped up their attack." In his book The Music's All that Matters: A History of Progressive Rock, Paul Stump compared it favorably to its contemporary Union (by fellow progressive rock giants Yes). He explained that Black Moon "did at least aspire to interest and excite the listener, and it would be a churlish mind that overlooked a vigour in the playing which had formerly been notable by its absence. The material, though, suffered from the Yes malaise: cynicism and over-exposure to the wallet-fattening blandishments of easy-out FM mores, intervals and development procedures had blunted edges and dulled nerve-endings both of players and listeners."
Half of the album's songs were played at the band's 1992-1993 concerts. Greg Lake included the songs "Paper Blood", "Farewell to Arms" and "Footprints in the Snow" in the setlist of his 2005 solo tour. "Farewell to Arms" was played at the group's final concert, at the High Voltage Festival in July 2010.

Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) - Slide On This (1992)

Year: 8 September 1992 (CD 1992)
Label: Continuum Records (U.S.), 19210-2
Style: Rhythm and Blues, Rock
Country: Hillingdon, England (1 June 1947)
Time: 59:21
Format: Flac Tracks 16/44,1 kHz
Size: 410 Mb

While Ronnie did have a more or less independent solo career, unlike Keith Richards or Mick Jagger whose solo careers were rather, er, rudimentary and always reeked of the true Stones' spirit, it wasn't until Slide On This that he fully demonstrated all his possibilities: he grew up, oldened and wisened, burned out and came back, and delivered a set of songs which should definitely rank among his best. In fact, while I haven't yet heard any previous albums of his, I'd be amazed if any of them turned out to be better.
On a normal, 'technical' level, there ain't really nothing special about Slide On This. What Ronnie does is basically write up a series of simplistic R'n'B melodies and cover some older standards, and that's about it. There's nothing groundbreaking or particularly interesting about this kind of music in 1992, unless, of course, you want to count such gimmicks as string arrangements sometimes overdubbed over plain rock'n'roll numbers innovative. And thus, when I first listened to the record, I couldn't help but feel bored: after all, why not put on Voodoo Lounge instead?
Nay, friends and countrymen. I was wrong. Remember, always remember that Ronnie Wood is not just a second-rate Rolling Stone; Ronnie is just as well a first-rate Face. And the Faces always had that magical power to charm you with their restless energy, booze and grittiness even when the actual melodies were non-existent. Well, now that Ronnie Lane is gone and Rod Stewart is mutated, Ronnie Wood carries on the legacy. And thus, when I listened to the record for the second time, I couldn't help but feel totally enthralled. To hell with Voodoo Lounge; in places, the ferocious rock'n'roll of Slide On This makes the Nineties' Stones sound like pathetic wimps, much like Rod Stewart himself.
