Its pretty weak, the production kills it really, all sterile drums
and overbearing sound. At times it feels like he is going for a Jeff
Lynne type style but it just sounds awkward.
Gerry ended up self releasing it, which was a sad state of affairs for such a great artist, "keep it to yourself" is just impossibly cool and there are a couple of other fine songs but it's scant comfort sadly.

I LOVE Rafferty's work but this, by his usual standards, is awful.
The production is trite and the songs lack the originality that preceded this CD.
Of course compared the other dross on offer as music these days it's quite good, I do hope Gerry manages a return to form (and real musicians) on his next offering.

I totally concur with the review of mojojeff - this is great stuff from the guy who brought you "Baker Street" back in '78. Track 3, "Keep It To Yourself" is just so cool you'll wanna play it over and over, and "Children of the World", "Sweet Love" are excellent as well, among others on this great CD. This album is everything I hoped it would be. If you bought & loved "City To City" way back when, you'll also very much enjoy this disc. It's great to hear that after all these years of relative obscurity, Gerry Rafferty's still making great music every bit of the caliber of the radio hits.

A brilliant return to form from Rafferty. _Another World_ is Rafferty's finest release since _City to City_, the superb sound quality of the production almost knocks you back. Great stuff Gerry!
